Storia

Nel mwhaVII secolo mwhqsan Colombano, sulla tomba del santo martire mwhgValeriano, fondò un monastero che, nel mwhwIX secolo divenne sede dei monaci colombaniani di mwiaSan Filiberto, ivi trasferitisi con le spoglie del loro santo fondatore quando vennero cacciati da mwiqNoirmoutier dai mwigNormanni. Successivamente costoro edificarono una mwiwchiesa abbaziale, sempre dedicata al santo (mwjaSt-Philibert), che, inaugurata nel mwjq1120 da mwjgpapa Callisto II, rappresenta uno dei momenti più alti dell'mwjwarchitettura romanica francese.
